Born in Velanai to the parents, Dr Rajaratnam and Rukmani.
Educated in Central College Velanai, Vaideswaren Vidyalam Jaffna, Senguntha Hindu College Jaffna.and Jaffna college , Vaddukkodai
Graduated from University of Ceylon Peradeniya, University of Madras , obtained BA Hon (Ceylon ), MA (Research ) ( Ceylon ).
Served as a lecturer in the University of Peradeniya, University of Kelaniya and University of Jaffna.
Prominent Short story writer, Initiator of the Media resource and Training centre
In the University of Jaffna. Journalists were benefited by these courses conducted by the MRTC.
